This past week, I had the opportunity to speak with Riley Stacy, a Computer Science, Math, and Human Rights major at Barnard College. Initially on a path toward medical school with aspirations in neuroscience, Riley's journey took a significant turn as she discovered her passion for public interest technology.
Riley's interest in technology and its implications on society led her to explore the biases that exist within the justice system. She is dedicated to understanding how technological advancements can both aid and hinder fairness in legal proceedings. This shift in focus highlights a growing recognition of the need for ethical considerations in technology, especially in areas that impact vulnerable populations.
As she delves deeper into her research, Riley aims to contribute to a more equitable justice system, advocating for the responsible use of technology. Her unique background and interdisciplinary approach exemplify the potential of combining human rights with technical expertise to address critical societal issues.
