As Lent unfolds, many individuals contemplate what they might sacrifice during this reflective season. While traditional practices often involve giving up sweets or alcohol, an increasingly popular choice is to reduce technology usage. This year, I have chosen to embrace a temporary detachment from my devices, aiming to reconnect with the world beyond screens.
The decision to limit technology is not merely about reducing distractions; it’s an opportunity for self-reflection and mindfulness. In our fast-paced, digitally-driven lives, we often overlook the simple joys of face-to-face interactions, reading physical books, or spending time outdoors. By stepping back from technology, I hope to cultivate a deeper appreciation for these experiences.
This Lenten season, I invite others to consider what they might sacrifice. Whether it’s social media, video games, or even excessive screen time, the goal is to foster a greater sense of presence in our daily lives. As we navigate this period of sacrifice, we may discover new perspectives and a renewed sense of balance.
